Personal Profile

Jason Rupp is a seasoned non-profit executive with over two decades of experience leading mission-driven organizations across the life sciences and policy sectors. Known for driving strategic growth, aligning governance and operations, and building high-impact coalitions, Jason has successfully led mergers, rebranding efforts, and multimillion-dollar revenue initiatives. As President of SEMDA, he transformed the organization into a regional powerhouse, culminating in its merger with Southeast BIO to form Southeast Life Sciences. He later served as COO of Georgia Life Sciences, guiding a major organizational spin-out and reestablishing the group as a vital voice in the state’s innovation ecosystem.

Georgia Life Sciences

As COO of Georgia Bio, I played a key leadership role in re-establishing the organization after a spin-out, driving revenue through renewed membership and sponsorship engagement. I advised the CEO on governance and public relations during a complex reverse merger and successfully secured a partnership to bring a nationally recognized investor conference to the region, helping to reassert Georgia Bio’s prominence in the state’s life sciences ecosystem.

Southeast Life Sciences

As the first full-time President of SEMDA, I transformed a struggling, Atlanta-centric nonprofit into Southeast Life Sciences, a regional powerhouse. I expanded geographic reach, tripled investor participation, and increased conference sponsorships by 110%. I led the successful merger with Southeast BIO, launched impactful initiatives like Medtech Women AdvanSE and SE Color, and created SE Surge to foster industry-university partnerships—all while driving revenue growth and steering the organization through COVID-19.

At AdvaMed, I led dues restructuring and member recruitment strategies that generated nearly $2M in new revenue and improved on-time collections by 45%. I created high-impact membership campaigns, developed global prospect pipelines, and elevated AdvaMed’s presence at its flagship conference, playing a key role in positioning the organization for long-term financial sustainability and membership engagement.

 During my tenure at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, I led initiatives that grew annual membership dues by 67% and unified a fragmented organizational identity through a comprehensive rebranding effort.
